Bistro provides opportunity for workers with disabilities
The Blue Ribbon job represents Edwards' first job in the real work world, the ultimate goal for the Centers for Habilitation and the nearby Marc Center of Mesa, which are teaming with Banner Health, said Dave Cutty, president and CEO of the Centers for Habilitation.
"It's different and it's good at the same time," Edwards said. "I really like meeting people. I really like making new friends."
Edwards drew on her experiences from eating out with her family to know how to avoid pitfalls on her new job.
"I'm learning to wait until people are done eating," she said, before taking their plates.
Blue Ribbon Bistro, in the former Banner Mesa Medical Center's cafeteria, was dedicated Tuesday but opened about a month ago. It offers a wide menu
that in the first week included chicken fajitas, beef lasagna and chicken marsala.
