IARP Case Management Section Report 4.24.08
The CM Section Board held its’ most recent meeting on Friday April 18th, 2008. The newly drafted Case Management Section Policies and Procedures were discussed and final adjustments were made before submitting them to IARP Headquarters for approval. They will be posted to the CM web page and the CM list serve for 30 days of section members’ comments.
We are looking forward to participating in the upcoming CMSA conference. Local IARP Florida members will be recruited to help man the booth at CMSA this summer. The membership committee is co-sponsoring the event and as of 4/22 the forms were submitted to headquarters for completion and submission to CMSA headquarters. Also we set aside budgetary dollars to buy promotional items for use as give-aways to attendees.
The board was encouraged to promote the upcoming annual conference in Los Angeles and to reach out. Additional sponsors and potential sources for attendees were submitted to IARP headquarters. The student paper competition for next year’s annual conference was discussed and a sample draft of the announcement was drafted. Winners of the competition will receive a free IARP student membership as part of the prize for the competition. Our intention is to commence this competition at the 2009 annual conference.
CM list serve participation was discussed and CM BOD members were strongly encouraged to submit postings and participate and encourage discussions. If this does not pick up in the next six months we may discontinue the listserv and use this portion of the budget for other pertinent section expenses.
The possibility of a CM/DM conference was discussed with great enthusiasm about this proposition. Potential themes, locations, and specific speakers were suggested and creative ideas for a different sort of conference experience were shared. All board members were supportive and excited to potentially take this task on as a group. We look forward to the possibility of a CM/DM conference and everything that it will offer the members of the CM section.
It was suggested that this conference should be announced at this year’s annual conference or very soon thereafter and initial communications should begin much earlier in the year. It was pointed out that many employers and universities are asking for a six to nine-month lead-time at minimum for conference sponsorship and with increased hotel rates and travel expenses. They felt, as an organization, we should provide our membership with as much information as early as possible and then add additional information, as speakers confirm and sponsors added. It was also suggested that we have this conference in February, as the ACA conference is in March, the ABVE in April and the CMSA in June.
