About the Presenters
Arlette Loeser, MA, OTR, ATP, CIE/P, CDMS, CAPS, CLCP, is president of Advanced Life Care Planning LLC and The Ultimate Workspace LLC of New York, NY and Avon, CT. As a RESNA-certified assistive technology practitioner and certified ergonomist, Ms. Loeser brings over 20 years of experience in clinical practice, academia, care management and life care planning. Working with individuals with musculoskeletal, neurological and an array of other diagnoses, Arlette uses speech-recognition software to assist her clients in retaining their jobs while injured, returning to work post injury and gaining access to computers to lead help in leading a satisfying and productive lifestyle. Ms. Loeser has given presentations at Closing the Gap, The International Call Center Conference in Istanbul, Turkey, The American Society for Interior Designers and has guest lectured at Columbia University, New York University and SUNY Downstate. She currently sits on the board of the New England Chapter of IARP.
Kimberly Patch, BA, is president and founder of Redstart Systems, a Boston-based company that has developed add-on software that makes Dragon Naturally Speaking usage more productive, less mouse-intensive and more user friendly. She began using speech recognition software 16 years ago after she was hit with repetitive strain injuries. Ms. Patch was a writer and editor for 20 years, and began writing about technology in 1988. As a journalist, she was a founding editor of the science and technology Web publication Technology Research News. She wrote custom speech interface software to enable hands-free writing, editing and production of the weekly publication. Redstart Systems' Utter Command speech interface software grew from that experience. Kim has given presentations at SpeechTEK, SpeechTEK West, Closing the Gap, the MIT Venture Capital Conference Entrepreneur Showcase and the Assistive Technology Industry Association (ATIA) conference. She is currently an invited expert for the W3C Accessibility Initiative User Agent Group.
