This program addresses the meaning and intent of “clinical judgment” within the context of forensic rehabilitation consulting based on peer-reviewed journal articles regarding this methodology. Ample time will be reserved for questions and comments.
Learning Objectives:
- Impart the difference between a strict view of methodology and admissibility as defined by the U.S. Supreme Court rulings (Daubert, Kumho, Joiner, etc), the Federal Rule 702, and their relationship to clinical judgment.
- Develop forensic opinions with an emphasis on the knowledge, training, skills, background and experiences of the forensic rehabilitation consultant.
- Illustrate the development of opinions in wage earning capacity and life care planning by briefly reviewing relevant cases involving the use of clinical judgment.
About the Presenters:
Timothy F. Field, Ph.D. is President and co-owner of Elliott & Fitzpatrick, Inc. of Athens, GA. Dr. Field was formerly a rehabilitation educator (UGA), a vocational expert, and currently is a publisher, author, and journal editor of rehabilitation resources for the area of forensic consulting.
Anthony J. Choppa, M.Ed., CRC, CCM, is co-founder of OSC Vocational Systems in Bothell, WA. Mr. Choppa, in addition to managing a staff of over fifty rehabilitation counselors and case managers, also provides earning capacity assessments, life care planning and case management services throughout the Pacific Northwest.
Cloie B. Johnson, M.Ed., ABVE-D, CCM, is a rehabilitation counselor and case manager at OSC Vocational Systems in Bothell, WA. She provides earning capacity assessments, life care planning and case management services throughout the Pacific Northwest.
