John Curley - Learning Disabilities and Overcoming Barriers
Motivational speaker, Emmy-award- winner and former host of Evening Magazine, John Curley will share his life experience with having to overcome the barriers of a learning disability, "dyslexia." His story addresses social stigmas and presuppositions made by others that create artificial barriers to education and career goals. John's true-life journey is informative, inspiring, enlightening and entertaining.
Learning Objective: Increase attendees' understanding of learning disabilities and strategies for overcoming vocational barriers.

Dr. Cooper specializes in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. As an attending physician, Dr. Cooper provides treatment and medical case management primarily to worker's compensation patients with musculoskeletal conditions and chronic pain.

Rich Wilson, CRC - Vocational Improvement Project – How are we doing so far?

Rich Wilson is Program Manager for Return-to-Work Services for the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries.

Thomas Williamson-Kirkland, MD - "Red Flag" Diagnoses in Workers Compensation Injuries, which if not managed properly, can lead to prolonged disability.
Dr. Williamson - Kirkland is a noted Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation physician who specializes in pain rehabilitation. He started and directed the Pain Management Program at Virginia Mason Clinic for 23 years.

Dave Kaplan / Katherine Mason – Initiative 1082; Understanding the pros and cons for privatizing worker's compensation insurance.

Dave Kaplan is the Executive Director of the Washington Self-Insurers Association. Katherine Mason is an attorney who represents injured workers.
