City targets workplace absenteeism
One
of the new proposed positions calls for a nurse who would take care of
occupational health, disability management and infection control. The other, a return-to-work services assistant, would take on a more
administrative role, including keeping track of absences and managing
employee files. At yesterday's meeting of the audit and administration committee,
several councillors asked for the underlying cause of the high absentee
rate and whether low morale was among the culprits.
