Life Care Planning Summit 2010 attendees will perform an important function during the April 17-18 event. In addition to establishing best practices on decision-making authority and in-home care choices, we will examine 10 years of summit statements to determine which are still applicable and which may be archived.
Examples of Statements from recent years include:
- Life Care Planners shall complete 120 hours of training including courses that focus on disability issues and are specific to life care planning.
- The Life Care Planning certifying body shall manage and disclose ethical complaints and violations.
- Standards of Practice shall allow for individual judgment and expertise.
- Life Care Plans shall be limited to the planner's expertise and scope of practice.
From education, certification and professional development criteria to how standards of practice, ethics and research methods are determined, attendees' impact on the practice of life care planning will be long-felt.
