Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor (WA, OR)
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Counseling position performing vocational evaluations/assessments of individuals with physical and mental impairments. Perform labor market research to assess individual’s ability to work in selected occupations and evaluate their wage earning capacity. Develop retraining plans which upon completion will allow the clients to return to a productive lifestyle.
JOB DUTIES:
- Conduct Job Development activities to include identification, pursuit and follow-up of potential employers
- Conduct Labor Market Surveys
- Formulate timely case reports, to include presentation of factual information and analysis of future Pro-Active Vocational Intervention Services
- Conduct initial client interview Assess client medical condition; coordinate and monitor rehabilitation programs; and facilitate medical case management
- Conduct Job Analyses and pursue job accommodations, as appropriate
- Determine, coordinate and monitor appropriate training programs
- Formulate and implement Rehabilitation Plans
- Travel routinely within a two hour driving radius; occasional extensive travel
- Establish working relationships with clients, adjusters, attorneys, employers and treating medical personnel
- Conduct employment planning/preparation activities to include resume/cover letter development and Job Seeking Skills Training sessions
- Coordinate and maintain schedule of daily activities
EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS
- Master of Arts/Science Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling and/or CRC Preferred
- Washington State Provider Certification or ability to meet qualifications
- Oregon State Vocational Counselor Certification
